Ufology seems to have set itself apart again.  This time as the only
scientific discipline that suffers some scientists to neglect or even
outright refuse to allow adequate peer review.  Not all, but some
peripheral Ufologists consistently develop pet theories, then skip over
the peer review process for fear that their theory would not survive.
Proclaim it often and loudly enough, it then must become fact by
declaration.

This is one of those soul-searching questions that all serious
researchers must not only ask themselves, but expect others to
strongly consider, as well.  If a researcher proposes a hypothesis, the
scientific arena will not even consider it without proper vetting.

Can someone really refer to themselves as scientists if they refuse to
allow their work to be vetted?  In the same vein, can someone really
look upon Ufology as a scientific discipline if its members allow some
borderline charlatans to represent fantasy as fact?
