UFO’s have been reported in a variety of shapes and designs, but one of the most spectacular are what is referred to
as “motherships”.

Where most UFO’s, either disc-, boomerang-, or cigar-shaped, are described as relatively small, motherships are
described as very large, at least 1 mile in diameter and have been seen in a variety of shapes..

One of the most famous mothership-sightings is that of an airline captain from Japan Airlines Flight 1628, piloted by
Captain Kenju Terauchi.  While enroute from Iceland to Anchorage, Alaska on November 17, 1986, the captain of the
Boeing 747 observed a series of unidentified lights pacing his aircraft.  At one point, Captain Terauchi observed a
huge object he described as being the size of several aircraft carriers trailing behind.

Another well-known sighting, again by an airline pilot, is that of a mile-wide object over the Channel Islands.  The
airline pilot/witness, Captain Ray Bowyer of Aurigny Airlines, sighted the object while flying 10 miles west of Alderney
at about 3:00 pm local time during a flight from Southampton.  The aircraft was approximately 30 miles from the
island at 4,000ft.  Captain Bowyer described the object as yellow in color with green.  The object was stationary at
2,000 feet.

When Captain Bowyer reported the sighting to air traffic
control, he was advised that another airline pilot had made
a similar report of an object at 2,000 feet in the same area
at the same time.  The second pilot had a vantage point
on the opposite side of the object from Captain Bowyer.

It is highly unusual for pilots, military or commercial, to
make reports of unidentified aerial anomalies.  Pilots are
very concerned about losing credibility, and sometimes
their employment.  Some pilots have experienced loss of
careers over sighting reports.  This lends great credibility
to these sighting reports of possibly the same object
observed by two different, highly trained commercial pilots
from vantage points on each side of it.
It has been surmised that motherships are, in actuality, massive extraterrestrial aircraft carriers used by alien races to
transport them the massive distances through space from their planet of origin to Earth, allowing smaller, shorter
range spacecraft to fly the relatively short distance from Earth orbit to the surface to perform whatever task assigned
it.

It has also been theorized that motherships actually base themselves on the Earth’s moon, having developed a base
of operations on the dark side (the most concealed area) of the moon.
Substantiation for these
theories have some from
none other than Apollo 11
astronauts Neil Armstrong
(Apollo 11 commander) and
Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin (Lunar
Module “Eagle” pilot), who
were overheard making
incredible transmissions to
NASA’s Mission Control in
Houston, Texas about
seeing a “base” on the dark
side of the moon with a
large spacecraft on the
surface near the facility.
Both pilots were also
overheard referring to
another spacecraft that had
appeared beside Apollo 11,
reportedly trying to
discourage them from
proceeding with landing
operations.

Recently, both astronauts
have confirmed this incident
publicly.

Placing American citizens on edge on March 13, 1997, the "Phoenix Lights" were witnessed by thousands in a 300 mile
area from Nevada to the edge of Tucson, Arizona between 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm local time.  The massive anomaly,
shaped like a triangle or boomerang, appeared over cities in Arizona, Nevada, and Sonora, Mexico.  The craft arrived
over the city of Phoenix, Arizona, and upon moving away, was followed shortly by a series of lights that, one by one,
appeared in the skies over Phoenix, then extinguished in the same manner.

It is believed by the many witnesses that at least one very large UFO positioned itself for a period of time over a
major American city, then proceeded away.

To date, researchers and investigators have yet to provide an alternative, credible interpretation of the event.
